What is the average salary of a cake baker / pastry chef?

Im really aspiring to be a wedding cake / various cake designer. (Ex. The cake boss) what is their average payment? Pastry chef? CAN I DO BOTH? THANKS! ANY TIPS ON GETTING STARTED A BUSINESS? WORKING MY WAY UP? SCHOOLS IN ILLINOIS?

Pastry chef, not brilliant pay, wedding cake designer, Megger dollar! The skys the limit with anything to do with weddings. Im a Dressmaker and people pay out incredible amounts of cash to make the day a special one. Start at the bottom, gain as much experience as you can and go for it. If you are good you Carnt fail. You do need a natural artistic flair, you need to be prepared to work long hours, not 9 to 5's here! The reward: running your own business with people admiring your work and remembering it for years to come — absolutely priceless! Good luck.
